It’s been about a month since I started blogging, so I’m not exactly a newbie at this point, but I found this tag at Bookgraphy‘s blog. I’m still relatively new, so. Whatever.
I was going to do a longer discussion post today, but I’m horribly sick and it’s midterms and my brain feels like it’s stuffed with cotton, so I’m doing a tag instead. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Why did you start this blog?
The long and short of it is . . . I love books. (Shocking news, I know.) Whenever I finish a really good book, I want to scream about it from the rooftop and talk about it to everyone I know, which can get very annoying for my friends and family, so I guess this is a way of channeling my book-related feelings without socially ostracizing me.
What are some fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging?
Hmmm, good question. I guess this isn’t totally unique but I am a creative writing major and I take a lot of literature and writing classes, so I often look at books from the double lens of both reader and writer.
What are you most excited about with your new blog?
I’m excited to meet fellow book nerds and talk about the books that I love and find new books to add to my mountainous TBR!
Why do you love reading?
Why do you love breathing? I don’t know, reading is such a central part of my life and it has been for as long as I can remember. I can’t even imagine who I would be without it. Escaping into different worlds and other people’s lives, getting lost in beautiful language, letting myself laugh or cry or fall in love with fictional characters . . . I just love it.
What book or series got you into reading?
I really don’t remember, because I can’t remember I time before I could read. But the first series I remember really loving is the Narnia books.
What questions would you ask your favorite authors?
Oh noooo this is so much pressure. It really depends on who it is. I guess the first thing I would do is tell them that they’ve changed my life and made it infinitely better. Then I guess I would ask them what their favorite thing is about writing. But I would not be composed at all, let’s be real. (Like . . . if I met J.K. Rowling, I would probably just faint on the spot.)
What challenges do you think starting a blog will be hardest to overcome?
I’m a full time college student and work part time as well, so fitting blogging in, along with finding time to read, spend time with friends, and occasionally sleep, is certainly a challenge. But I am determined!
When did you start reading?
Like I said, I don’t really remember. According to legend, I came home after the first day of kindergarten disappointed that we hadn’t learned reading yet. I was always really eager to learn (partly because I didn’t like my parents reading aloud to me lol).
Where do you read?
Nowadays, mostly just in my bed. I have this really nice armchair back home where I curl up and light some candles and read and read *dreamy sigh* But I don’t have that in my dorm room, sadly. Sometimes I’ll read in the library (but then I just feel guilty for not doing homework).
What kind of books do you like to read?
All sorts! My main tendencies are toward young adult, particularly fantasy, but honestly if something sounds intriguing I’ll probably pick it up regardless of genre. I tend to stick to fiction, but I’ve been known to grab nonfiction here and there (outside of class required reading). I listed a few of my favorites in my intro post, and I also plan to make a more comprehensive list at some point.
Well that’s that! I hope you learned a little bit more about me and my reading life!
