2019 Challenge: reading the “bottoms” of my Goodreads TBR

Okay, that title probably makes no sense, but I don’t know how else to describe this.

In 2019, I want to pick up books that I’m interested in, but which may not be high on my TBR. Sometimes I get bogged down in new releases and the latest hype, so the books that have been on my TBR for a while keep getting pushed down.

In order to accomplish this challenge, my goal is to read from the bottoms of my Goodreads TBR.

What the heck does that mean, you ask? Allow me to explain.

First, I must go to my Goodreads “Want to Read” shelf.

Currently, my shelf is organized by “date added,” which means the books I most recently added are at the top. However, there are a whole bunch of different categories I can use to arrange my books.

What I’m going to do is arrange my shelves by a variety of categories and read one book from the bottom three in that category.

For example, I’ll arrange my books by average rating, so that the lowest rated are at the top. This is the result:

This gives me the three books with the lowest average rating from my TBR. My goal is to read at least one of these.

I’m going to go by what’s in these categories now, at the end of 2018, so they don’t change as the year goes by. Also, I’m not going to choose which of the three I’ll read now, so I have some options later on!
