40+ queer books by Black authors to support this Pride month (and always)

Happy Pride! Let’s not forget that the modern gay rights movement was started by Black trans women rioting against the police. 😌

Before we start out, I want to share some resources that I know have already been shared a hundred times, but it doesn’t hurt to add one more time:

Since many of us are reading queer books in June, and since we should all be reading Black authors whenever possible, I thought this list could be helpful. This is essentially just a list of all of the queer books by Black authors that I could find! There’s definitely more YA on here than anything else, since that’s my wheelhouse. I haven’t read all of these, but if I have reviews for any, I’ve included links. Also, I did my best to find the representation for all of these books, but if you see anything that needs to be fixed or could be more specific, let me know!

  1. i love this post so much, margaret! definitely helpful as i’m trying to rework my pride tbr and include more Black queer books ❤ the weight of the stars and the stars and the blackness between them are two of my favorites!! really wish more people read the latter because it’s gorgeous 🥺 just wanted to say that hannah moskowitz is not at all Black though lmao!

  2. thanks so much for sharing this post, Margaret! though reading it made me sad, because I really could do a lot better at adding books by Black authors to my TBR and reading them 🥺 I’m really excited to read The Sound of Stars and Felix Ever After though! and I’m so intrigued by The Black Veins since i love the author’s presence on twitter and the found family trope is *chef’s kiss*

(also, i want to point out that many Black people have pointed out that they wish for the B to be capitalized when referring to them. <3)
