Sometimes all you can do to express your feelings about a book is make memes

Happy Monday! Here are over fifty homegrown, all-organic book memes from me to you.

Okay, confession time: I enjoy making memes. Or maybe that’s just part of being a millennial who spends too much time on the internet. Either way, I’ve made my fair share of book-related memes to send to friends, and since I didn’t have anything better to post today, I figured I’d just share them with all of you. And then I proceeded to make a ton more.

So…here are the fruits of my labors. Enjoy these memes; they are deeply stupid. And beware of spoilers — I’ve marked the sections that include serious spoilers, but memes can be pretty spoilery by their very nature. (I can’t believe that’s a sentence I just typed.) Have fun!

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

(⚠️ spoilers! ⚠️)

Antoni from Queer Eye: A convict with a thirst for revenge, a sharpshooter who can't walk away from a wager, a runaway with a privileged past, a spy known as the Wraith, a Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums, and a thief with a gift for unlikely escapes is something that can actually be so personal,

(over that one guy from It's Always Sunny) Nina: Can I offer you a nice waffle in this trying time?

meme from Into the Spider-verse: Peter Parker thinking with the text "Kaz & Wylan, scheming" over him, with Miles Morales watching and copying his pose with the text "Inej & Jesper" over him

man 1, with the text "the crows" over him wears a shirt that says "no funerals." man 2 walks up wearing a shirt that says "Matthias." man 1's shirt now says "one funeral"

(I’m so sorry, that last one is so mean.)

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

(⚠️ spoilers! ⚠️)

over Jenny Slate: I had to stop rereading TSHoEH 'cause it made me too crazyyyyy! It would just be like, "they'll be much more interested in my wife" and I was like: *SCREAMS*

over Adam Driver in Marriage Story: Every day I wake up and Evelyn Hugo isn't a real person. [crying]

Evelyn every time Celia comes back into her life: (over Michael Scott from The Office) No question about it. I am reading to get divorced again.

Radio Silence by Alice Oseman

(over the guys from Buzzfeed Unsolved) Frances: Maybe the real treasure was the friends we made along the way. Daniel: No, I want my Cambridge acceptance.

(dog inside burning room meme, with the text "Aled's mental health" over the fire) dog (with text "Aled" over it): This is fine.

man floating down hallway with the text "academia" over him, while other man runs away with the text "Aled & Frances" over him

(over Rosa from Brooklyn Nine Nine, holding a puppy labeled "Aled") Frances: I've only been friends with Aled for a day and a half. But if anything happened to him, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself.

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Loveless by Alice Oseman

(⚠️ spoilers! ⚠️)

If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio

(⚠️ spoilers! ⚠️)

The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

(⚠️ spoilers! ⚠️)

Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan

Okay, that’s all for now! Let me know if you like these, because I had a lot of fun making them and would definitely be down to do more. And let me know which books you’d like to see meme’d!

Do you ever make book memes? Do you have a favorite of the memes I made?

  1. ALL OF THESE MEMES HAVE ME IN HYSTERICS. Like, actually. The “one funeral” one. All the PJO ones are gold too, like–these are gold star memes.

And the one about RWRB and being caught up in it is too real, 2020 sucks and I fantasize about living in the RWRB timeline all the time. Imagine Alex making his speech on October 2nd instead of what actually happened … sigh.

    1. SO glad these could make you laugh! 😀 I’ll just be putting “gold star meme maker” on my resume now…

And yep, I cannot tell you how many times I have wished we lived in the RWRB version of 2020. That version of October 2nd (and…pretty much every day of this year) would be 500000x preferable. Sigh.

  3. I only could look at the Six of Crows ones and the Percy Jackson ones, but they were all amazing!! That last SOC one was really mean of you Margaret, and now I’m sad.

But the PJO ones made me laugh so hard, especially the one with Kronos and Rachel’s hairbrush.

Thank you for bringing some joy during my long hours of zoom classes. It was much needed.

  4. MARGARET THESE ARE AMAZING!! I COULDN’T STOP LAUGHING. I would try to comment on each one that made me actually smile and laugh out loud but that would actually be the longest comment of all time because I smiled through this entire thing. :,) (But a personal favorite is you even taking the time to color in the color orange for The Pig that was EVERYTHING.) Thank you for this!!! I hope you’re doing well.❤️
